From his roots in Twin Falls, Idaho - where he spent his youth riding horses, excelling in high school sports, and earning his Eagle Scout rank - Travis Holt Hamilton's journey into filmmaking began unexpectedly as an extra on a Disney set. This taste of cinema led to his first speaking role in the 2002 adventure film "The Shadow of Light," igniting a passion that would define his future.
While deployed in the Middle East in 2003, Travis penned his first screenplay, "Turquoise Rose." Determined to bring his vision to life, he took a bold leap into independent filmmaking in 2007, financing the project with 11 credit cards. Rather than waiting for traditional distribution channels, Hamilton created his own path - purchasing a mobile theater setup and traveling across the Navajo Nation to share his work.
This grassroots approach taught Hamilton the intricacies of film distribution firsthand. From intimate screenings across the Southwest to securing mainstream theater releases, his reach continues to expand. It's a testament to his dedication, proving that authentic storytelling finds its audience, no matter the obstacles.
